“Contract logistics service companies are faced with special challenges in their tender management and productivity measurement processes. On the one hand, they need to create customized offers for complex tenders in a short time, which are often associated with high financial risks. Based on these offers later they can carry out negotiations, e.g. for changing conditions during the operational phase. Therefore the offers must be transparent and comprehensible. On the other hand the productivity of service provision must be increased continuously and the value proposition to the customer must be represented in an appropriate way. To overcome these challenges they require appropriate tools to calculate customer individual tenders and to measure their performance in a standardized, systematic and efficient way. Hence it was aim of the research project “”ProKoLog – Productivity in contract logistics”” to develop a software which addresses these challenges. The project was conducted by the Department of Logistics at the Technische Universität Berlin in cooperation with BLG Automotive Logistics GmbH & Co. KG and HUETTEMANN Logistics GmbH as practice partners. The developed software demonstrator integrates the concepts of a modularized service library and a productivity-oriented performance measurement system. For the implementation of the software into the operational systems of the contract logistics service companies an implementation guideline has been developed. This implementation guideline includes a description for the technical implementation as well as a change management concept which focusses the specific situation of contract logistics service providers. The guideline supports the service providers to manage their change process actively and efficiently on a procedural, technical and staff level. Additionally the document includes a user manual for the software demonstrator in which the tool’s functions and workflows are explained in detail.”
