ver the past years several initiatives have developed internationally that address the further development of evidence-based assessments of pharmaceuticals after licensing in order to support decision making in policy and clinical practice. The report analyzes objectives, procedures, and results of the Pharmaceutical Forum initiated by the European Commission and its Working Group on Relative Effectiveness, of the European network for Health Technology Assessment EUnetHTA, and of the national US‐program for Comparative Effectiveness Research. Similarities and differences of the three initiatives are highlighted. Finally, issues and questions for further research areas are identified.
