The University Library of TU Berlin (operating the University Press) sets the following general conditions to promote Open Access publishing in accordance with the “Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities”:
-
- All publications of the University Press are published online and, if required, in print simultaneously. Access to the online publications of the University Press is provided via TU Berlin’s digital repository.
- Publishing with the University Press requires authors to transfer a permanent, non-exclusive right of reproduction as well as the right to make the work publicly available on the internet and, if applicable, to distribute the work in printed form. Beyond that, authors retain the unrestricted right to republish their work in identical, modified or partial versions, both printed and online, after publishing on TU Berlin’s digital repository.
- The University Press encourages authors to grant the Open Access-compliant Creative Commons license CC BY to remove copyright-caused barriers impeding the free circulation of ideas and the dissemination of scientific results. Authors’ rights are maintained by the requirement to give appropriate credit.
- All bibliographic metadata (including the abstracts) available through the publisher’s digital repository and online shop are licensed under the CC0 license. Anyone may access and use the data, e.g. via the repository’s OAI interface, store it and make it publicly available to third parties, if necessary in enriched form or in parts.
- The documents published online by the University Press are free of copyright-related technical protections in order to preserve scientific knowledge as part of the digital cultural heritage and to make it permanently available to the professional as well as the general public.
- Documents of the University Press may be used for text and data mining without further approval.
- The TU Berlin University Press is listed among “Green Publishers” in the SHERPA / RoMEO list.
